They sent me a reg file and a bat file to execute and that cleared things right up. Silicon dust had me turn on diagnostics and do a couple of things and they were able to tell that for some reason only one of the 3 tuners was listed in the registry. Because of what I can get over QAM and my tuner priority order I've not had more then one QAM tuner going at a time, but all looks fine. So, dropped the 2 HD homeruns and got 2 kworld USB tuners for ATSC and getting much better signal strength then I ever had with HDHRs and rock solid recordings, and plugged in a prime that I'd ordered long ago and then finally came. My 2 old HD homeruns both seemed to be getting flakey, getting occasional bad QAM and ATSC recordings (I had one HD so 2 tuners, dedicated to each broadcast type.) And yes, successfully getting 3 QAM tuners from my prime in Sage. My signature has the details, but yes, my prime is running without cable card because I have a Ceton quad tuner with CC. I don't believe SiliconDust is spending much time on the Prime's QAM abilities.
SAGETV HDHOMERUN PRIME DRIVER
Prior to the latest prod driver it wouldn't even produce the SageTV. Someone else was trying to use their Prime as a QAM tuner and could never get tuner 0 to work.
Perfect recordings everytime-including an Ann Arbor station to the south of me. This got rid of all of the macroblock or green blocks. I switched both my HDHRs to ATSC (QAM gets me basically nothing I want) and I added an amp to the antenna. Doesn't matter if they are new and first time setting up. Seem to have an increasing # of bad recordings coming from both the QAM and the ATSC tuners, so I had bought a prime a while ago and wasn't using it and figured I'd swap out the old hd homerun I was using for QAM for the Prime.ĭon't see how they could be in the ignore list since they are brand new tuners. Trying to cut down on monthly $ to cable co. If anyone knows what this means I'd be interested in the explanation.I have a quad tuner ceton with a cable card. I don't know if that means the firewall was killing off the ICMP packet or not.
You can see the teardown request, followed shortly thereafter by an ICMP packet. txt extension off the upload for Wireshark to recognize the file. The capture, BTW, was done with the firewall running. I've attached the handful of remaining packets to this post. All of >those<< packets went to the same port on my server, so I presume they're the video data. This includes premium cable channels like HBO, Showtime, and Starz. Introduced Fall 2011, the HDHomeRun Prime adds CableCARD support to allow viewers to view and record all the digital cable channels they subscribe to without using a cable supplied set-top-box. Rather than upload all of that, I filtered out everything that didn't come from the avt-profile-1 port on the Prime. Newer models of HDHomeRun are DLNA device compatible.

Not sure if this will help, but I installed wireshark and had it capture a watch live TV session which, when I ended up, left the HDHomeRun Prime with a locked tuner.Įven though this was only a brief capture it generated a 40+MB file (gotta love those video streams ).

If I get some time I'll install wireshark and see if I can grab & upload some network activity logs. But it also shows that it doesn't have to be an issue, and that apparently tuner release is handled differently when doing a scheduled recording as compared to watching a live TV stream.
This shows that the firewall configuration is an issue. When the recording is finished, the tuner is properly released.
SAGETV HDHOMERUN PRIME WINDOWS
Doing a scheduled recording with Windows Firewall turned ON does not lock a tuner. When you're done watching the live stream, the tuner is properly released. Watching live TV with Windows Firewall turned OFF does not lock a tuner. You have to power cycle the Prime to clear it. Watching live TV with Windows Firewall turned ON results in a tuner getting locked. For inbound connections, there are no constraints on either UDP or TCP connections (I presume this means other protocols are constrained). I verified that Windows Firewall, after all I did, imposes no port or protocol constraints on TVService.exe for outbound connections. My hardware setup uses an HDHomeRun Prime as a capture device. In addition to whatever the MP install routine does on its own, Windows Firewall was configured using the command line commands listed in the wiki for configuring it (i.e., I ran all the listed commands after doing a standard install). watching live TV with Windows Firewall off.watching live TV with Windows Firewall on.doing a scheduled recording with Windows Firewall on.
